Getting started

Pick a journey or a Free Row space, choose your settings, then sit on your rower and press ROW. Press ROW once you are seated, upright at mid-slide, so the water is centered on you.

Rowing machines

Rowdy connects over Bluetooth to rowers that use the standard fitness machine (FTMS) format and to Concept2 PM5 monitors. Tap the rower button next to ROW to connect. You do not need one: without a rower, Rowdy estimates your power from how your hands move, so you can row with a rowing motion of your hands. Connect a rower for exact numbers. Calories on the board are estimated from your rowing power.

Journeys

Journeys follow real waterways: the English Channel, Loch Ness, the Thames, the Grand Canyon, the Nile and the Amazon. Every meter you row counts, and your place is saved, so you can finish a journey over many rows. Postcards arrive at landmarks and every few kilometers along the way, and you earn a medal when you finish. Pace boats show how a steady, strong and racing rower would be doing.

Steering

Tilt your head toward a shoulder to move one lane left or right. You stay in that lane until you tilt again. Steer around rocks, logs and whitewater.

Music

With an Apple Music subscription you get full songs, either picked for you (Auto) or your own picks. Without one, Rowdy plays short previews. The music line on the setup screen tells you which you will get.

Apple Watch and Apple Health

Rowdy doesn't save anything to Apple Health, so your rows are never counted twice. To log a row with heart rate and calories in Health, start an Indoor Rowing workout on your Apple Watch before you press ROW.

Purchases

Tropical Lagoon is free. Each journey is a one-time purchase, each Free Row space is a one-time purchase, and the All Access pack unlocks everything. To restore purchases on a new device, open Journeys and tap Restore purchases.

Troubleshooting

I see my room when I lean forward

visionOS shows your room if you move far from where the scene started. Sit on the rower before pressing ROW, or press and hold the Digital Crown while seated to recenter.

My rower won't connect

Make sure the monitor is awake and not connected to another app or phone, then tap the rower button again.

I only hear 30-second previews

Allow Apple Music access in Settings > Apps > Rowdy, and check that your Apple Music subscription is active on your Vision Pro.
