The two modes

HIIT

A coached class you do standing in one spot. Each exercise, such as side lunges, squats, twists and woodchops, lasts 20 seconds. Before each one you get a short recovery with a demo of the move. Classes are about 10 or 15 minutes.

Chase

Move around your room and smash waves of floating balls before the timer runs out. Choose a timed round or endless mode with three lives.

What the colors mean

BallUse
PinkYour left hand
BlueYour right hand
WhiteBoth hands together

Solid balls are the ones to hit now. Clear balls show where the next ones will be. Each exercise moves at your pace: the next ball lights up when you hit the current one.

A target is too high, too low or too far

Targets are placed from your eye height when the class starts. Stand up straight and look ahead when you press Start Class. If they still feel wrong for your body, let us know your height and which move, and we will tune it.

Music and sound

Apple Health

With your permission, Smash saves each workout longer than a minute to Apple Health with its duration and estimated active calories. Calories are an estimate, not a measurement. You can turn this off at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Smash Hit XR.

Troubleshooting

Hits aren't registering

Keep your hands where you can see them, and punch or reach through the ball rather than stopping short. Hand tracking works best in good light.

The game feels slow after a long session

Quit the round, close the app from the Home View, and open it again. If it keeps happening, email us and tell us which mode and roughly how long you had been playing.

I bought an earlier version

Everything is included with your purchase, including HIIT and all future updates.

Play safely

Smash is exercise. Warm up, stay hydrated, and stop if you feel dizzy, short of breath or unwell, or if anything hurts. Check with a doctor before starting a new exercise routine, especially if you have a health condition or are pregnant. Take the headset off between sessions to rest.
